  • I loved Kanach's opening line, "design is supposed to help the user not think. Art is supposed to make you think." It basically sums up my high school experience in art. Before, I thought art only existed to be aesthetic, but as I consume more and more art, I begin to understand it as a medium of communication.

  • I didn't imagine that you could actually financially sustain yourself as a freelance animator! That's extremely cool. I might actually do that when I grow up. Animation is my main medium this year and I'm also currently doing a mentorship at an animation studio.

  • Dude, I completely forgot that software development needs a lot of good design...that intersects perfectly with my college major, which is going to be in compscience. Things are shaping up to look pretty convenient here.

  • I liked his advice that "you need to submit things you don't think will win --- it doesn't need to be the best, just the best that was submitted." That's very inspirational, and goes hand in hand with overcoming your fear of failing in art.

  • Apparently, time constraint is a huge part of making money off of art. I didn't realize that art class due dates transferred to adult life in such a 1:1 analogy, but it makes sense, since you're getting paid for your work.

  • I never thought of creating a logo, color scheme, and font to brand myself as an artist. Is purple too feminine? That would be very interesting.
